Utility of CAD Conversion

CAD has been serving various industries so far. CAD conversion is a broad term and many types of conversions are carried under the technology called Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). Many industries have experienced the benefits of this technology and this is resulting into the rising demand of services offered by companies dealing with Computer Aided Drafting.

Earlier the models and drawings were made on paper first but it had many demerits.

It was time consuming. It was expensive.Large size drawings were difficult to make.It was difficult to keep the records and blue prints of the projects for longer duration. It was impossible to edit the drawing (or modify the dimensions without redrawing the entire drawing) once it was made. The drawing could not be zoomed in to see every nook and cranny of the drawing deeply. It could not be produced into different layers in order to show every layer separately.Measurements were made through scale increasing the possibility of errors.Final look of the project could not be made realistic by adding colors and textures. The different views of the drawings were to be drawn separately.

When CAD came into existence, it provided a new avenue to the working of various industries. It provided the facility to convert the drawing on paper into CAD files which could provide various benefits to the consumer. Those benefits were not possible to be availed, when the drawings were made on paper-

It is time saving as it takes less time as compared to the physical drawing. It is cost-effective.It is easier to make larger size of drawings. It is easier to save records and blue prints of the projects for longer duration and that too within small space. It is very easy to edit the drawing anytime once it is made. The drawing can be zoomed in as much as you want to see every nook and cranny of the drawing deeply.Different layers can be made to show every aspect of the project separately. It does not require using scale for measurement, it's easy to adjust the scale of the drawing as per the requirements (the drawings are made on 1:1 scale on CAD) and this decreases the possibility of errors.Final look of the project can be made realistic by using colors and textures which look real. Now, with the help of 3D models different views of the drawing can be seen (top, front, rear or side views) without actually drawing them separately.

This translates into that the Computer Aided Drafting is not only cost-effective rather it increases the profit of the industries who are taking the benefits of this technology. It satisfies the consumer in advance and that too without making a single construction, resulting into the selling of product before actually making it. This is all about the utility if CAD conversions, which means format conversion using CAD technology.

There are a number of reasons why companies are throwing out the old blueprints and investing in updated CAD files. Paper to CAD conversion will remain to be a part of the drafters duties well into the future until every design is finally updated, and no paper blueprints remain.
